  1. Generally a nice utility, but I thought it was freeware (sorry, guys), and a $5 contribution is too much to ask IMHO for a simple utility to turn off a monitor (sorry, guys, I just have to be honest).

If you'd like to send me a registration code regardless, feel free to do so!

  2. This application would be worth $5 if it would handle energy management of multiple monitors. For example, lets say I have 3 monitors but rarely use all 3 simultaneously - I don't want to waste energy but want all monitors to be available when I need them.

This utility needs to be able to detect when a monitor has no windows currently open, and no mouse activity, then shut off the monitor not in use based on some pre-defined user setting.

A person can justify spending $5 to save more than that on energy. This utility should also support turning off all monitors but a tv out monitor used for watching movies.

  3. Awesome software. Altho' like Mike says 5$ is a bit to much. Also could you make a function so only keyboard and turn on monitor (not mouse)?

  4. The Software can do many things such as save energy, add a little bit of more security, shutdown computer when no in use and many more features. The application can do many more things apart from just turning off monitor, and if this application can help you save energy worth more than $5.00, then yes this application is worth the expenditure, is'nt it?

  5. I need a version that won't put an icon in the system tray allowing the user to disable the software. The only functionality I need is for the PC to automatically logoff after 15 minutes of inactivity. That's it. Finding it hard to believe that function is not built into Windows Vista.

  6. We do have the functionality available, which can automatically LogOff Signed On User when computer remains idle.
    Download Turn Off Monitor Software
From System Tray Menu Select "Configure Computer Idle Actions", enter number of minutes and then click on OK.
Now Open Turn Off Monitor Settings and Remove the System Tray Icon Check Box.
    That's it.

  8. The software can only turn off all the displays connected to a pc, and does not allows to select the display to be turned off.

  9. Needs a way so monitor wont turn off with mouse movements/clicks and a hot key to turn monitor back off and on (at mo you can activate only)... not just any key...

then would be useful.. why.. cos want to have pc running a macro ignoring mouse and keyboard except a hotkey, and doing stuff in back ground while the screen is off so can have in a bedroom at night time :)

  10. Yes you gotta point. We will add the functionality soon, however the new functionality will work uptill windows xp & will not work on windows vista (and probably not on windows 7). As of now a workaround to wake monitor on only with keyboard and not mouse is
    1) Configure Turn Off Monitor to turn monitor off after let's say 1 minute
    2) Use Lock Keyboard and Mouse feature to Lock Keyboard and Mouse

Now when monitor is turned off, no mouse movement will wake up monitor and when you press any key on keyboard, monitor will come back to life, and you would need to press ctrl+alt+del and then esc key to start using the keyboard again
The above process will work on uptill Windows XP only and yes it is not a convenient process to follow, but we will make it simple, easy and quick to use.

  12. Added functionality so that, once monitor is turned off, it won'nt turn on with mouse movements & key press can turn monitor on, however ctrl+alt+del would be required to get access to the computer again. The functionality will work on Windows XP & not available for Windows Vista and possibly Winndows 7.

  15. Just bought this to turn my screen off (usually fall a sleep watching a movie or tv)
all its missing is an option to mute the system aswell when turning off the screen.

it would just be the perfect then!

  16. Yeah Mute option will be there in the utility so that when turning your screen off, the utility will provide the option to mute volume as well. Do subscribe to updates from help menu to get notified of the update.

  17. This utility worked very well when the standard Vista 64 functions refused to turn the monitor off during inactivity. One thing that would be helpful would be if it turned off the monitor not based on computer inactivity (not sure exactly what that means), but based on not getting any mouse movement or keyboard input for some period of time.
Thanks, I liked the utility and I thought it was worth the $5.

  18. Like others have said, this app really needs to support multiple monitors - such as turning off specific ones with different key bindings etc.

  19. Did not work for me.

  20. In case Turn Off Monitor Software Utility does not work on a given pc
    1) Give it a try on another pc (your current hardware may not be able to support turning monitor off using software) OR
    2) Give a try to Blank Screen Utility

  21. Never did shut off monitor. All seemed right; said it *would* shut off monitor; never did. Trial usage limited; in 14-30 days I might get hooked.

Appeared complex for a simple utility. For all it might be able to do, $5 may have been right but what I wanted it to do, $5 was going to be too much.

  22. I installed your software on my HP Pavilion Notebook, it didn't work at all. I was not even able to create a desktop shortcut for the software. Consequently, I had to uninstall all of the software.

  23. I spent some time researching utilities of this type before deciding on this one. Many of them were free but did not work as well. This program works well and the UI is very nice. I applaud RT for charging such a reasonable fee. As everyone has different needs, there are more features that could be added. My own request is for the ability to reduce sensitivity so that a small mouse movement did not turn the monitor back on. I am happy to pay $5 and hope more functionality will be added.

  24. Hi Thanks for writing, as of now you can block mouse movements to wake up monitor only onn windows xp, we will add / improve feature soon.

  25. Hi, I simply wanted some kind of application that turns my monitor on/off - nothing else.
§5 is to much and all the hickhack with Paypal, which I do not like held me off from buying. Sorry guys. Good application for those who nned the wholepack.
